Regrettably there is reason to believe that some elements of the GOP and their affiliates have been acting in such a way.

I just think it is unfortunate Cohen picked on Goebbels given that, to the feeble minded, what he said is just as bad as spuriously (and without any basis in fact) comparing 'Obamacare' to Nazi policies.
Yes only those wingnuts on the right manipulate things we all know that everyone that is left of center only tells the absolute truth about everything. We know that they are the bastions of all things truthful and they only present the facts unaltered and evenly represented of all opinions. Hold on let me find that cool-aid hiding somewhere around here.

Ok, then.

Simple fact: When wages and employment are high, low taxes are all that is needed.

Care to comment on what happens when both wages and employment are low?
Republicans are running things.......... or your in a 3rd world country, or your gov. has no clue as to how it's own economic system works,
High employment slightly drives wages up.
Low employment de-stimulates the economy. Drives wages down
High wages, you work for a hedge fund.

nope don't drink their cool-aid either I am skeptical of all extremes and I read both sides hoping that maybe I can decipher the actual truth out there myself.

Have to keep an open mind to find the truth, not assume what the truth is. Trust me it's not easy...........

QuoteQuote:
So what are the deadly (yet perhaps innocent) frauds? First,
government finance is supposed to be similar to household finance:
government needs to tax and borrow first before it can spend.
Second, today’s deficits burden our grandchildren with government
debt. Third, worse, deficits absorb today’s saving. Fourth, Social
Security has promised pensions and healthcare that it will never
be able to afford. Fifth, the U.S. trade deficit reduces domestic
employment and dangerously indebts Americans to the whims of
foreigners - who might decide to cut off the supply of loans that we
need. Sixth, and related to fraud number three, we need savings to
finance investment (so government budgets lead to less investment).
And, finally, higher budget deficits imply taxes will have to be higher
in the future - adding to the burden on future taxpayers.

Mosler shows that whether or not these beliefs are innocent,
they are most certainly wrong. Again, there might be some sort of
economy in which they could be more-or-less correct. For example,
in a non-monetary economy, a farmer needs to save seed corn to
‘invest’ it in next year’s crop. On a gold standard, a government
really does need to tax and borrow to ensure it can maintain a fixed
exchange rate. And so on. But in the case of nonconvertible currency
(in the sense that government does not promise to convert at a fixed
exchange rate to precious metal or foreign currency), none of these
myths holds. Each is a fraud.
The best reason to read this book is to ensure that you can
recognize a fraud when you hear one. And in his clear and precise
style. Mosler will introduce you to the correct paradigm to develop
an understanding of the world in which we actually live.”

Let's talk about the real problem and the thing that wasn't mentioned on that list.

The MILITARY.

We spend more on it than the 15 nations combined. Lets cut it in half and see if anyone invades us..

We can't afford to pave a greater path for america and keep our world empire. It's time wake up and realize that.

Hmm. So the plan is to cut spending by about a quarter of the deficit amount, at the cost of programs that will cost the employment of thousand and gut the federal workforce, while not touching the biggest element of all--defense. Someone should do a real cost benefit on this and see what difference this makes in the actual deficit. 90% of the cuts are just things Republicans don't like anyway.

I also think it is interesting they will be having a garage sale of federal lands as part of their deficit reduction. That will make some contributors happy.

I just mailed off my deposit, I mean campaign contribution, I've got dibs on a nice unused federally owned piece of land overlooking the grand canyon.
