Health insurance protects your health like life insurance protects your life, it only kicks in when you don't have it any more.
The role of the federal government in health care should focus on public health, research, and development. It will be hard or impossible for them to play a positive role in either delivering or paying for health care without accelerating the systemic problems that plague nation's health care system.
The health insurance reform that was delivered fell far short of the goal of universal coverage and still costs 3 times as much as what candidate obama was talking about on the campaign trail.
IF priv. sector h.c. and ins. was at the least bit effectual for the majority there wouldn't even be "Obamacare"...........
BTW: I have yet read an article saying how "wonderful" our heath care ins. system is......... how well it works, how affordable it is. Don't mind if you show me one......

The lead article of the Sunday July 18, 2010) New York Times says this:
“…the country’s biggest insurers are promoting affordable plans with reduced premiums that require participants to use a narrower selection of doctors or hospitals. ”

Comment: I thought only “socialized” medicine limited choices and rationed care, not private insurers. Does this mean we get no public option and limited choice.
