Originally posted by jeztastic I don't really know what is happening since the EU accession, that was after my time working with migrants. However my limited observation is that EU migrants come to the country, work incredibly hard for a short time, then either integrate successfully and stay, or go home. I don't really see this as a problem - it's what has always happened.
I don't see it as a 'problem' either.... however large numbers of workers settling into some rural areas caused local problems with resourcing of schools, council housing etc, because of the speed they arrived... e.g. Boston's population may have risen by 25% between 2001 and 2008... a bit of a new phenomenon in rural areas, I certainly noticed it when I was living in Worcestershire. The new Polish food aisles that you find in Tesco's these days make shopping a more exotic experience than it used to be!
