I hate to burst the idiots bubble but how many people in America actually own the property outright? I mean debt free because even though you may "own" a house and pay mortgage payments you don't actually own it till the loan is payed off. I wonder if this guy has a mortgage on his house if he does then as far as I am concerned he falls into the rent to own category and shouldn't be allowed to vote either.
Actually having a loan or mortgage against your property does not mean you are not the property owner. Your name is on the property deed, the tax roles and it is you and not the bank that gets the ticket for failure to keep down the weeds or shovel the snow. And there is no way of actually being able to determine if the property owner owes money on a piece of property if there is no lien or chattel registered against it which if you used a private loan or a line of credit may be the case. Would someone owning an apartment building get to vote once for each suite?

If I only rent to own then would the 'owner' of my house please come and do the repairs

I think every renter in the country would be happy to give up their right to vote provided the landlord gives up his/her right to collect rent.

I suppose and their right to pay taxes.
Jim, I was giving some credit that your election process is perhaps one rung above that of Haiti.
I'll try to not make the same mistake again.

Well, the more the GOP gets their way, the more they need to stack the deck against regular people to seem 'populist.' If everyone *in* this country voted, they'd have become a dim memory twenty years ago.
Then it's a good thing the ignorant beast remains at home, sitting on the couch watching American Idol.

See? Look at this paragon of the ideals of freedom, democracy, hard work and opportunity...

Oh, wait, you mean feudalism, oppression, greed, usury, and entitled aristocracy.

Bread and circuses! Or, well, Wonderbread and circuses. Wait, no, Bread's for Commies.

We dealt with this here in St.Louis county some years ago.Folks called themselves
"Freeholders".If I remember right, actually cleared committee and set to go to county
council for vote. Were so many legal challenges successful at every level agaisnt
that it was thought that it slithered back underneath to what ever rock it came
from and died.Is this the best the 'pubs' can do to get our economy moving again.
Just more smoke.By the By,believe these freeholdin folks owe native american
landlords some back rent.

I appreciate the effort, Bill. I think we are still a bit farther up the ladder than Haiti, but it seems the politicians are greasing the rungs more and more every day.

and we wonder why conversations between the parties always fall apart. both sides are so quick to fall back to the typical name calling and they embrace this attitude to show how superior they are to the other.

Thank you for your response.

Do feel that renters should be banned from voting?
