I'm tired of hearing everyone brag about their K10D

So....

I decided to give my K100D to my Step-Daughter and get one of those darned K10Ds for myself. Along with the DA* 16-50.

Both have shipped and I can't wait to get my hands on them........

Few months ago I was in the same situation. k10d, k10d... I was so tired, so I sold my k100d and got a k10. The first difference I noticed was the low light performance. k100d kicks k10's but in dusky situations. But k10d is much better in other circumstances and I'm very happy with my change. And I can bet You will love Your k10d too.
As Ben used to say: don't forget to install a film roll, and take off a lens cap before shooting

I'm not planning on "upgrading" to the K10D yet (since I just have my K100D).

but I AM wondering what the "reasons" would be to choose the K10D over the K100D ?

I mean stuff like "Weather Proofing" is that really a good reason to switch (The Body is weather proof but how about the lenses ? I mean most modern AF have small servo motors to make the AF work and I could guess water is not ideal for those).

Also there are probably some negative points like the battery-pack which has the downside that when it's depleted you can't quickly swap it with some others (where with the K100D you could put Alkaline batteries in it if you really need/want to).

One thing that I noticed was the some options are not buried in menus but more easily accessible in buttons (i.e. RAW +).

That was sort of what caused me to make the move. That and the built in wireless flash capability.

I once posted a similar question on a different mailing list: see this thread

for some more replies.

Curse all you K10D owners!
Just kidding. I want one too, but many other things will steal my money before that time.

One of these days...

I'll just wait for the K1D to be released (or whatever the successor of the K10D will be named) unless maybe that one isn't available in 2-3 year from now and I'm really willing to upgrade my K100D to a "better" model.

I was lucky (relatively) I had (and still have) the *istDS and wanted something which was a bit faster (both in FPS and focusing - boy is it faster focusing!) increased MP without being OTT (10mp is getting to the limit for sensor size) the weather proofing, battery grip (shame I did'nt have the *istD or would have had this) and the increased flexability. And I am glad I did. And of course there is one final reason - to wind up those Canon and Nikon owners who know that their 30D's and D200's are no where near as good as the K10D! (ignoring the lenses that might have) LOL

Will upgrade to whatever Pentax more advanced but the same physical size as the K100D.
I like the K10D's features but no thanks for the size.

Reason i got the K10D over the K100D.

K10D felt better in my hands.
front e-dial
weather sealing
10MP
Wireless remote
quicker FPS
More of a manual feel to it.

Nooooooo! Why did I click on this thread??

I've just started liking my K100D and managed to get those "buy a K10D" voices out of my head.

Until I feel I have exhausted the K110D's capabilities to the fullest and cannot progress any further, I see no reason to upgrade yet. By the time I do upgrade to the K10D it too will be "yesteryears" model and everybody will be crying out about the K20D! I am fine with that as I am not a professional photographer (far from it) so my aim is to get better snapshots ;-)

Warsaw, yesterday night at ISO1600 (!!)
