It's a shame the hysteria has made a bad situation worse (for the local economy) too... but then... how was the world meant to react? It was such a scary thought, the spill going on indefinitely. But the Gulf microfauna apparently have a surprising capacity to gobble up crude oil. How that will ultimately play out through the food chain remains to be seen, but there seems to be reason to be cautiously optimistic.
