Would you give your opinion for free

Okay people. I have some equipment but I don't know their worth.

I can't place them in the MarketPlace because they're NOT for sale, trade or auction. I can't place them on EB for the same reason.

What would you suggest I do. Would it be acceptable if I place them in this General Talk forum and simply ask "What are these worth?"

Thanks
jc

Why not?

Go for it.

Or check eBay's completed listings.

I agree with the eBay idea; the completed items search is a pretty good way to find out how much people are willing to pay for things

it's not completely infallible, but at least it gives you a rough idea

I usually look at the KEH web site when I want to know the value of something.

I know that they won't pay us what they're selling it for, but it's what you'd have to pay to replace it if it got stolen.

Thanks. It seems people don't have any objections. I'll get a few shots together and post them then.

JC,

If "some equipment" is not "a lot of equipment" I would be happy to provide you with prices from the latest 2005/6 McKeown's if you give me sufficient information.

Off line, of course.

Thanks Mickey. Is that OBE as in Order of the British Empire!!

OK everyone here goes - it's 3 lenses, some I found in Mo's Db, I think the 1.7-50 is the M series, 1.4-50 is the K series but not sure about the Super Takumar. As you can see, I ain't so good at lenses.

SMC K 50/1.4 around US$70

SMC M 50/1.7 around US$50

STak 55/1.8 around US$45 (that is the screw mount version right?)

My guesses on ebay..

JC,

These figures are from Mckeown's 12th edition, 2005 - 2006.
Joele's eBay prices might be more accurate today but are variable.

Pentax lenses:
SMC 1.4/50mm M - $60 - 90. A - $65 - 100
SMC 1.7/50mm M - $50 - 75
Super Takumar M42 - $20 - 35.

Prices depend upon condition.

Mickey

P.S. OBE = Obese or getting there.

jc,

If you decide to sell either of the 50mm please send me a message.

I'd be interested in either one, and possibly both.

I have the K-mount 55mm f1.8, so I don't need that.
