Well, since South Dakota is not on Iowa's northern border, no.

You caught me (). I grew up in MS and that's the way we spelled it. "You say Dakota, I say Dakato".

Did I specify how far north?

It's like, San Bernadino CA is just about Guadalajara North.

So then Reno, NV could be called "West L.A.", right?

Wouldn't that be "East L.A."?

No, Reno is West of L.A.

Reno: 39° 31' 47" N / 119° 48' 46" W

Los Angeles 34° 3' 8" N / 118° 14' 34" W

Forgot about the hook. All so CA could have all the Sierra Nevada. When you live in the East it's hard to remember how far east CA turns.

It goes quite a long way north as well. Bits of California are north of bits of Canada.

Richard.
So is much of the Northeast. Syracuse is further north than Port Huron or London. There are parts of Maine that are farther north than any of the major eastern Canadian cities.

Some of the Aleutian Islands are East longitude, making Alaska the state that is farthest North, farthest West, and farthest East.

Wherever you go, there you are.

But I digress. Los Angeles actually does extend several hundred miles (due) north, into the Mono and Inyo basins, where the city has been (legally) stealing water for almost a century, leaving the Inyo basin a bleak desert where alkalai dust from the drained Owens Lake (now a dry playa) blows and poisons the land and air. Yes, Los Angeles *IS* a giant amoeba that extends parasitic tendrils in all directions, sucking life from distant places, a vast vicious viral vampiric vacuum of vitality. And people there drive funny.

That's ok. Mom's gonna make it all better soon, and flush it all into Arizona Bay.
