ROil Wedding

Got to admit this is funny...........

DCCC to hit John Boehner with 'R-Oil Wedding' - Jennifer Epstein - POLITICO.com

QuoteQuote:
A flowery invitation awaits at roilwedding.com and includes an image of “special guest” House Speaker John Boehner’s head edited onto a drawing of an elaborate red dress that looks best suited for a paper doll.

“For this wedding, in lieu of gifts, the happy couple would surely prefer more Big Oil tax breaks,” DCCC spokesman Jesse Ferguson said in an email. The invitation has the Republican-Oil registered for “corporate tax breaks at the expense of middle-class Americans” at Halliburton, BP, Exxon Mobil “and more …”

Yesterday, ExxonMobil complained that they had no control over prices, blaming everything that's happening at the pump on the owners of their local stations.

And today we learned just how badly they've been victimized:

Exxon Mobil, the largest American oil company, said net income rose 69 percent to $10.7 billion, or $2.14 a share, in the first three months of this year, from $6.3 billion, or $1.33 a share, in the same period last year.

The earnings beat some analysts’ expectations, and marked the fifth quarter in a row that Exxon reported an earnings increase.

69% profit jump! The horrors! Such a sad story! Congress must not even consider ending their oil tax subsidies! $10.7 billion is puny!

But ExxonMobil is not the only victim in this sad story:

Shell reported earlier on Thursday that its profit for the period rose 30 percent.

Oil companies are benefiting from a rise of more than 30 percent of the price of oil over the last twelve months. Concerns about political unrest in North Africa and the Middle East had pushed up prices to heights some analysts said were not justified by the level of demand. Continued growth in economic demand is expected to support a relatively high price of oil but there are signs that rising gasoline prices are keeping some consumers in the United States from filling up their tanks.

Meanwhile, the sad story of oil company victimization was balanced out by great news for U.S. consumers who are experiencing the joys of record high gas prices which continue to threaten the faltering recovery even as GDP growth registered at an anemic 1.8%. Good times all around!

The wedding is a sham.
It's just a renewal of the vows.

See, now this thread is a prime example of the mean spirited attacks by the left on honest good Republicans, and proves you all are just as bad as they are. This sort of thing creates a hostile environment to our right wing friends and is discriminatory, derogatory, and generally uncool.

I think you ought to publish a public apology for hurting our tea bagging feelings.

Just as a side note I am sure that you can provide proof that every single Democratic member of the government has not connection with oil in any way correct? The Republicans are not the only ones in the pockets of big oil, but hey you can keep those tunnel vision glasses on if you want. There isn't one member of the government that isn't influenced some how by oil

Members of Congress from all parties have connections to Big Oil or some other "Big" industry, but looking for the corrupt member from the other side who fits this bill is just fallacious. (The fallacy of composition, to be exact). Which policies align with Big Oil more? Which party officially supports those policies?
