Apple Religion

It's what I thought all along.
Steve Jobs is evil.

Glad I build my own PCs.

Damned that Steve Jobs!

He must have gotten hold of the study on the instilled need for worship in humans before we did.

If you believe in the holy Apple, will you be raptured tomorrow?
How about the invisible hand?

I really appreciate Apple gear. My 17" Macbook Pro is without a doubt the best laptop Ive ever had.
But in saying that.... some people are just truly nutbags.

I'd rather an extremist buying silicon and making shines than buying explosives and making bombs

I am probably seen as a Mac nut though, my PC sided mates call me a fanboy. I however dislike the apple store "genius" and often recommend PC to people. My interest in windows ended after a few days of vista.

Apple makes some nice products but nothing to go nuts over. I had a Macbook for a while and didn't really like it.

I build my own PCs (since 1987) and have never purchased a new desktop PC but I did buy a Mac Mini in March 2009 when it had enough features to use as my media player in the living room and there was no small PC available in that size with the same features (Core 2 Duo, 4GB DDR3, Nvidia 9400, FW800, dual monitor ports , 802.11n etc). BTW I run Windows 7 on my Mac using Bootcamp because Windows 7 plays my 1080p60 HD video files and Mac Quicktime does not. I also use a 64GB iPod 4G that works great as a remote with my Apple TV 2. I use my Mac Mini with 26" Samsung 260HD monitor and 47" 1080p HDTV. My homebuilt 6-core PC with USB 3.0 is my main PC.

Some people have got to bash something or they go crazy. Now we can't have that...

Of course Apple are going to have its fans - just like any other brand does. Consequently, the most ardent fans would also become those who work for Apple...

We can have our devotion placed in all sorts of areas, unshakeable and even unreasonable at times (cf. Thank you for smoking)

Apple is not a religion, although Steve Jobs would appreciate that for sure.

But most of Apple's product just work… it took M$ years to catch up and Windows 7 is now at a point, where it just works. Nevertheless I won't switch back to Windows again. Even with Windows 7 (which I also have installed on my MacBook) Windows is still awkward to use and many "features" are so well hidden somewhere in the system, that I really question the development team in Redmond if they ever have asked a non-IT person to try it, before they launch the next version…

Still, there are a lot of very good apps out there, which I miss on the Mac side. But when it comes down to day-to-day work, both systems will do the job. I stopped proselytizing years ago for one reason:

Once people know, that you are an IT-knowledgable person, they will start asking you for help and then, once THEY messed it up again and again, will blame you again…

Naaa, I tell people "sorry, I don't have a clue, that's why I use my Mac. Don't ask me about tips or support. Buy whatever you want and go ask the sales guy for support"

Just my 2cts.

All hail the great and holy Imac.............

I can still use much of my old software on my PC.
Still playing Deus EX.

First time I ever touched a Mac, it froze up solid.
I never looked again.

You must have scared it cold.
Never a freeze after 8 years on 4 different Macs used daily and using countless others that weren't mine.
The OS is just good for me.

I don't use a Mac these days, but things like that used to happen to me only in early versions of OS 9. If the software I use every day ran on a Mac, I'd be there in a heartbeat now that the beating heart of the OS is really Unix.
