The best thing about the change is larger fonts, I believe.
Anxious to see it online

Nice work, Adam! We appreciate your efforts (and the resulting outcomes).

I have a problem with the font, though.

I understand that san serif fonts are considered modern and clean. Or at least modern. And they're widely used elsewhere.

But I was taught in J school many years ago that research shows that san serif fonts are harder to read in paragraph mode - the letters simply take more effort to puzzle out in dense groups. That's why we'll sometimes see san serif used for headlines but a serif font like Times New Roman used for the body, a font variation developed in 1831 at the Times (of London) for readability.

Given the propensity for some here to write rather long, rambling paragraphs with innovative punctuation, or none at all, I think a font like Times New Roman would be a better default.

Using a larger font is OK but I think there's an opportunity to improve readability with or without a font size change.

While that's certainly the rule-of-thumb, rules are meant to be broken

I'm reading/posting this using the new skin right now, and I can assure you that the new font is certainly much more readable than your smaller TNR.

I'm not sure whether the medium (screen or print) matters with respect to this rule, although one would think so.

On my screen, my previous post appears to have a larger font than the default here.

Unless TNR does not mean Times New Roman.

I'm confident that it doesn't mean The New Republic or a plan for the neutering of feral cats. Well, certain about the magazine but iffy on the cats.

This is font size three, whatever that means.

I'm game to try anything and appreciate your work, Adam.

I do think from experience and inconsistent eyes that glanglois is right about that type of font: though the spacing he displays would be frustrating. Lots of scrolling.

TNR, and just about all serif fonts, make for more difficult reading on screen IMO.
Sans serifs are just cleaner, more streamline and easier on the eyes.
The new font does appear even nicer than the current default one, though there is some Arial mixed in which can get a little too condensed on a large high-res screen...

Have LIKES already been decoupled from REPUTATION? My Rep score just dropped drastically in the last day or so. Part of my Rep was built by contributing many entries to the Serial Number database. Is that reward now gone?
