I don't know if Florida has such a statute, but many states have victim reparation statutes which prevent profit from a crime. Right now, there is no financial incentive for a civil suit on Caylee's behalf. Such a suit might succeed, given the lower standard of proof, but no one will take that case if Casey Anthony has no money. A few offers like these might make that litigation more attractive.

She did lie to the police but if she chooses to write her own story they can't stop her really. She wasn't actually convicted of anything that would prevent her. Most states, not all but most, you can't profit from a major crime you actually got convicted and jailed for if there is a victim or their family involved. In this case, it's a question of a few lies, and nothing more, legally speaking. They can't legally stop her from telling her side of the story or talking about her daughter or getting paid to do so.

She's already facing one law suit from the woman who's name she used for her nanny story, plus she's still got grand theft and bad check charges she's got to face. She may yet still see jail time on that. But she's free to do as she likes otherwise, pretty much, though I have a feeling she might yet see a lawsuit from her own parents if she doesn't mend her fences there. So far she won't even see them and that's a bad move on her part, legally speaking...

Some statutes do not require a conviction, though a bit of research indicates that Florida's statute does.

Nevertheless, civil liability for wrongful death does not require a conviction, as O.J. Simpson and Robert Blake have already discovered. Any profit she makes will make her a target for a common law civil suit.

Texas EquuSearch claims it spent more than $112,000 in the search for Caylee, the second most costly in the organization's history. The organization relies upon charitable donations to fund its searches. This search, it said, consumed 40 percent of the organization's annual budget. It said 4,200 volunteers helped search for Caylee.
