We are definitely way past the point of diminishing returns. At this point, if they offered an option where you could get on the plane without going through any security, bring whatever you damn well please, and take your risks I would choose that over the current system. Put these planes on a special security free concourse so you can drop someone off or pick them up at the gate. You could put a 3 inch steal plate between the fuselage and the cockpit and give the pilots a separate entrance parachutes. Vending machines instead of flight attendants.
I don't care. I'll take my risks instead of dealing with the hassles of air travel these days.
