I started reading the newspaper online, it's one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time!

The Seabreeze News - San Leon Texas

"published at San Leon, Texas - a small drinking community with a large fishing problem"

You're not kidding: Chicken races
"After bets are received, the race is fixing to start. The chicken owners
or their chicken handlers then bring the chickens to the center of
the small ring. Then the starter fires a blank pistol and the chicken
owners cut the heads off of the chickens and drop them into the red
circle.
As you may know, when you cut a chicken’s head off they run for
quite some time. Some ran in circles, some in a straight line, and
some just ran in place. On two occasions a chicken got almost to the
finish line and right before the line turned in a another direction and
circled back. The crowd went wild. The first chicken to run outside
the large circle wins – or rather, the owner wins."

One can only hope that this whole paper is a big joke or something akin to The Onion.

Obviously not a part of the Murdoch media empire.

That's a funny paper, genuinely funny.

HA I thought it bore a strong resemblance to a Murdoch news venture
Right wing boozing Rednecks with firearms are one of Murdoch's core markets (ducking badly aimed bullets)
One would hope it's an Onion type paper but I doubt it

i like the article on red light cameras HAHAHA

Open Season On Red Light Cameras:
Someone, or more than one person, has been shooting up the
red light cameras.
Seventeen different law enforcement jurisdictions in southeast
Texas have had reports of red light cameras being damaged or
destroyed by gunfire during the past year.
There have reportedly been at least 68 such incidents in
Galveston and Harris Counties this year alone. None have been
solved, and there are no known suspects.
Although the cameras are capable of photographing vehicle license
plates in order to send out tickets, they do not have the
ability to catch someone firing a hunting rifle - unless that person
happens to be riding in the back of a pickup truck that is
concurrently running a red light during daylight hours. That
hasn't happened, yet.
Bill Guzman lives near a red light camera in the vicinity of
Santa Fe which has been damaged by bullets repeatedly over the
past few months. In fact, the camera has been out of service
more often than not since being installed.
"I believe it's just accidental" Guzman told a Seabreeze reporter.
"Occasionally, you're cleaning a gun, and there's an accident.
The gun goes off. It happens to hit the danged camera over
there. End of story."
