My avatar represents my 35 years in diagnostic medical imaging and my 33 years (on & off) playing around with photography. Time sure goes by fast ...

I gave my wife the camera to take a photo of me on a hike, then went back up on the rock to pose elegantly. I was falling off the rock when she took the photo.

It's a crop of a photo of a bust (of Cicero, I think) which adorns a building at Oxford University, UK. I took it with the K100D (my first dslr) which I bought in preparation for the trip. The photo itself is kinda boring but I liked the crop.

mine is my first car, a 66 ford fairlane convertable that I had restored. What is important is that it was shot with my first camera a rikoh XR-2s (i.e. a poor man's K2DMD) with the kit XR Rikenon 50mmF2 lens.

Sadly, although I still have the camera and lens, I don't have the car any more, although I did happen across it a few years ago, but not any where near the condition in this photo.

Interesting choice Dave. As I recall Marc Antony and company cut off Cicero’s hands and nailed them to the doors of the Senate House for writing unpleasant things. I think his tongue was cut out and nailed to the same door for saying stuff they didn’t like. Punishment for slander and liable was a bit harsher in those days. Good thing Cicero didn't have a camera or they might have nailed them to the door as well.

Mine is the family coat of arms. Came across this while doing a little work on the family tree. I, with a lot of help from some Scottish kin, was able to trace the family back to about the year 1100 A.D. I was all set to start bragging about the family history until I discovered the family seat is now a landfill somewhere around Glasgow.

1100 AD, wow!
If it makes you feel any better, my ancestor's farming property was turned into a large shopping centre

My current avatar is probably pretty obvious. It's changed a few times, but currently is a Fokker Dr.1 'drei-decker' reproduction. Painted and flown in honour of Manfred von Richthofen, of course.

Hey Jason,

Better a mall than a compost pile. Actually it was fun tracking down the ancestors especially as someone else had alreaady done most of the work.
