What do you do for a living?

As a parallel to the "Where do you live" thread, here is the "What do you do for a living" thread.

I assume most of us are not carreer photographers?

I'll get the ball rolling, I'm a firefighter for the city of Montreal. As sideline, I also teach part time at the fire academy and do some construction work on my free time.

As far as photography it's just a hobby for me, and I am just barely a hack.

How about you?

Pat

That's a surprise, in that there has been no scene shots from you.

I'm an out-of-work Project Manager/Account Manager and document writer in the IT services industry.

Hey Pat!!
I am from Montreal also, living in Lasalle and I work as a contractor for Bell Canada. Thanks to my work I travel a lot and very important part of my truck is my K100D and two kit lenses and at home and on weekends I use K10D and couple of Sigma's and couple of primes

Maybe we can organize Montreal Pentax meet?

Which Fire station is yours,I've done a lot of work for them in past couple of years?

I haven't posted any as I have very few scene photos. When I'm at a fire or call I'm usually a bit too busy to take pics and off duty I am not an incident chaser.

The handfull of fire scene photos from my neighbourhood I do have I generally do not post publicly, I just put them on a CD and drop them off at the stations of my buddies (we all love to see pics of us working!)

The main reason I seldom post publicly is that I use my department credentials to get passed police lines and inside perimiters, so I feel posting them may be a conflict of interest.

I retired from teaching a few years back... hated retirement and decided to do something completely different. So, I now work 32 hours a week at a large bookstore and love it. I get to meet people all day long and discuss books and authors. My wife is an office manager and since we both have weekends free, that is when we go on our photography outings. Photography is a means to be creative and be with my wife. Things couldn't be better.

I'm a truck driver, but please don't repeat that where my mother may hear. She thinks I have a respectable job, playing piano in a whorehouse.

I play piano in a whorehouse. My mother wishes I drove a truck.

Chemical engineer, started, way back when, doing process analysis and modeling. Ran a company that did plant accident reconstruction and analysis-spent too much time in depositions and trials for anyone to remain healthy. Sold it all to raise three children, take pictures, craft leather, garden and annoy citizens of several internet forums. And there's that piano thing...

Science teacher here. I have also had the immense pleasure of teaching Geomatics, Geography, Computers, and Photography. Mostly at the moment, Science and Computers.

My hobbies run the gamut from reading, building and playing with computers, leather crafting, and of course photography.

jfdavis58, I would like to see a few photos of your work. I don't get to talk to many fellow leather crafters.

I run a company selling yachting equipment. I spend a lot of time with boatbuilders or on yachts in marinas. Occasionally if they twist my arm I go sailing with them to sort out mast and rigging.

Cheers
