Well............!

The early morning news is hinting that the Tea Party is going to win a major victory over the Democrats and the Republicans (in my opinion) by achieving everything that the voters sent them to do!

Whether their voters are happy with the results remains to be seen.

Yes, regardless of the actual outcome this will be a very real demonstration as to how a small united group is able to take control of a large country (USA) - using the democratic system - and fully achieve its own ends.

The Republican party can assume all credit and point blame at the Tea Party, if and where necessary!

Corporations already did that.

Teaparty is just one more of their front groups.

Actually the Tea Part victory is a great victory for democracy a victory of what emotion can do to politiccs if there is not an informed rational thought behind your vote. This is the pinnacle of democracy as you want it, victory of emotion and the mob over though.

Mob rule is all I've ever seen the teabaggers do.
They are a corporate front group.

This is actually a very subtle point.

Reverse the situation, such that an extreme left group of 60-70 socialists, had used the current situation to force a government take over of the oil industry (for example).

Would you be describing this as democracy in action?

Well, we would have cheaper gas.
But, that's just conjecture.
Teabaggers ARE a corporate front group.
They are not interested in governance, just chaos.
You should ask yourself why that is?

One of the un-named culprits is the Senate Filibuster rule as it enables a minority to dead-lock legislation. Thus the smaller Tea Party lead GOP was able to bring the legislative process to its knees.

I think the biggest culprit in the mess is that media, hence public, opinion is too easily lead by anything repeated loud and often. The quieter voices of economic sanity were drowned out by loud passionate ranting and an unfortunate "Fair and Balanced" reporting by the media whereby idiotic passionate utterance is faithfully reported to an extent based on volume.

Passion outsells ration in the mass marketplace of ideas..

I absolutely agree with every sentiment and would only stress again that volatile public extremism, fueled by the media, brought the Tea Party into existence and now we await the result of this extremism in the next Presidential race!

The Senate's progress has again been blocked by a minority of senators (July 31). The Reid Bill was blocked by a net vote of 50 in favor of proceeding to 49.opposed. The Bill itself would pass given the same voting pattern.

sigh... minority rule... (of course I like it when it works for me)
