Is Wisconsin Ground Zero for the "American Spring" or a Third Party? | Truthout

Seems my "belief" is catching on............

If you want to see where the next wave of corporate-sponsored political attacks is being launched, look to New Orleans. And if you want a shot of optimism, a ray of light, a sign that battles can be won against overwhelming odds, turn your eyes toward Wisconsin.

That's where the action is.

Less than full success in Wisconsin - seems like there aren't enough moderate Republicans outraged at the Walker policies, and too many who actually like what Walker is doing.

And lots of money spent demonizing unions.

I filled out the form on the protest ALEC site to volunteer housing as a practical joke on one of my buddies, but I decided against submitting it.

A little more enlightenment on ALEC
The kind of organization that lazy republican and pseudo libertarian lawmakers just love, as they are too ignorant to write their own laws.

A little bit more on our new improved law makers.
Actually, a lot more. Talk about an agenda.

ALEC Exposed - Alec Exposed

Apparently real Americans don't need no stinkin' freedom or liberty, or elected law makers, for that matter.
Just ask ALEC.

The more important question is, when do the games end?

ALEC and prisons

QuoteQuote:
It’s been almost two years since the privately-run prison in Appleton has held prisoners. But in early 2012, the prison’s owner, Corrections Corporation of America (CCA), expects to fill Appleton’s Prairie Correctional Facility and another facility in Colorado with 3,256 inmates from California.

In the last ten years, the revenue of CCA, the country’s biggest private prison company, has almost doubled, according to their annual reports. Critics say that CCA’s success, and even the likely reopening of the prison in Appleton, stems from their use of lobbying and campaign donations to push through tougher crime laws and increase detainment of illegal immigrants.

“Prison privatization contracts are designed by policy makers. It’s important for these companies to have a political strategy to increase their market share,” Paul Ashton, author of a recent report on private prisons for the Justice Policy Institute, said in a conference call Wednesday. Private prison companies “game the system,” he said, by pushing to increase market share, which in the private prison business means putting more people in prison.

Political influence generates business gains
For two decades, CCA was a member of a group called the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) — a nationwide organization made up of corporations and state legislators. At an ALEC meeting in December 2009, where CCA employees were present, according to NPR’s reporting, the group crafted the model legislation that would later become Arizona’s SB1070 and a host of other similar bills across the country.

The lack of response from the "right", forces me to believe that these kinds of shenanigans have the full endorsement of the "right wing conservatives".
ALEC is very real and writing laws for the GOP as I type.
Please, show me otherwise.

ALEC Ties Bring Down British Defense Secretary, Threaten Prime Minister David Cameron | Center for Media and Democracy
At least the Brits have some stones......
QuoteQuote:
"As citizens of Britain and the European Union we vote for both the Westminster and Brussels parliaments on the assumption that both bodies are acting in the interests of their electorates . . . the creation of a secretive and discredited "charity", the Atlantic Bridge, which relied on the power of right-wing overseas extremist groups and tax-avoiding billionaires to pursue their own agenda on behalf of foreign interests, is clearly an infinitely greater threat to our democracy and British sovereignty" than integration into the European Union (which British conservatives oppose)."

Another states:

"The drive towards small government, private healthcare and charity instead of government services for the poor mirrors the society some US bodies prefer. If true this would go some way to explaining why many of the current policies being pursued by the Conservative-led coalition in economics, defence, health, education and social security were not explicitly stated in the Conservative manifesto. Perhaps there exists a covert manifesto which was devised not by the Children of Thatcher but by the Children of Ayn Rand. None of us would have voted for that at the last election."
QuoteQuote:

London's Daily Telegraph reports that the Cabinet Secretary is expected to rule that Fox violated codes of conduct, but the report will not include full information about those funding the activities. British media and the Labour Party are expected to continue investigating Atlantic Bridge donors, and the Center for Media and Democracy will be tracking the role of ALEC's corporate members.

The Daily Mail writes these funding activities "could lead to accusations that a group of rich businessmen were effectively paying to try to exert influence over one of the key members of the Cabinet."
Apparently this sort of a thing is considered an outrage in the UK. Good for them.

It would be an outrage here too if more citizens would actually use their God given grey matter to think for themselves rather than be swallowed up by propaganda as they're told to like good minions to further agendas of the moneyed.
