Well, actually I think that one has been Photoshopped. The forehead and face shape are distorted. That site from which you got it has few photos of Democrats that aren't. The first page is Claire McCaskill as the joker.

This is nowhere near as bad as the Jill Greenberg photos of McCain... notably the cover of Atlantic Monthly and the disgusting chimp crapping on him.

The Bachmann shot just looks like she was trying hard to keep from blinking and the magazine took advantage of it to make her look like she is crazy (which I happen to think is true! LOL)

How were her eyes demonized? I mean if I wanted to do that to a photo of someone, just how would I go about it?

It looks like only very subtle changes might be involved. Is it as simple as raising the eyelids at around 11 O'clock a bit? Decreasing the pupil diameter a bit? What?

Alternatively, tell me how you would undo the look....

I think Mike Riley is closest to the truth. I suspect the photographer was issuing her instructions or maybe using bright lights or maybe stitching photo's together. We'll probably never know.

He could also have used some distortions in photoshop.

In any case he got the look that Newsweek wanted - and effectively so because it is now famous and their sales probably reflect this.
