I swear I'm trying to understand what's the point of having a camera-gun.

Getting shot for free? Going to jail?

'Way back in the day (like the 1890's) pistol cameras were quite the rage. Of course, handgun laws were a bit lax than. And "camera fiends" armed with 'miniature' (hand-holdable) cameras were seen as a social blight. Pointing a pistol might be seen as a less reprehensible act than pointing a camera. Also it's a funny gag, ha ha. These days, you'd probably want to be in uniform, to wield a pistol camera.

Oh, it's probably a mechanical hack, not a production item. But yes, such *were* produced, although probably not by Nikon. Gargle for PISTOL CAMERA and you'll see a few.

yup, the CIA even used a Pentax in the 60’s to disguise a .22 magnum if I’m not mistaken. the ’stinger’ or something like that.

Co-opted by the CIA?!?!?!? The swine! Well yeah, Pentax was THE common SLR then, so it makes sense. But still...

HA! Same with my bro-in-law's basement. HUNDREDS of bubble-wrapped goodies in there: dozens each of LF view.cams, Leicas, Hassys, whatever. And no catalog. Well, after he drinks himself to death, his widow-to-be says that *I* get to dispose of them. Hay guy, have some more vodka!
