75 years for eavesdropping and Nixon was pardoned.
His was premeditated.

Welcome to the plutocracy, with just a "slight" taste of fascism.

Slight taste? This REEKS of fascism. Goddamn bullies. How can anyone justify this case? No wonder these law enforcement officials don't want to be interviewed.

How can the US call itself a free country, while allowing a law like this to stand? Police need to be accountable for their actions. If they aren't doing wrong, then they have nothing to fear from being recorded. Banks, stores, etc have security recordings and are constantly recording law enforcement officials. Are they exempt from this ludicrous law?

If someone records a Rodney King type incident, where the police are completely out of control, the video couldn't be entered as evidence because it's illegal. Clearly the law is more important than justice here.

I hope it gets into the appeals process. This is a situation in need of a SCOTUS ruling.

What will they do when cameras, communication devices, media devices and recording devices not invented yet , are so small they will be everywhere?
That day is not so far off.

Just saw info about a video camera the size and shape of a keychain car alarm remote on the Internet. Can't remember more than that, but tiny recording devices are here already

So, since so many metro areas have cameras everywhere, what will happen if one of those catches something? I could understand if a cop were undercover, it could out his life in danger, but when in uniform, he should be fair game for taping. If he isn't doing anything wrong, what's the problem?

Your tax dollars at work.

Dma110's tag line sums it up. I only saw two people outside the court house.

This is particularly true of law enforcement officials, who are granted substantial discretion that may be misused to deprive individuals of their liberties. Ensuring the public’s right to gather information about their officials not only aids in the uncovering of abuses, but also may have a salutary effect on the functioning of government more generally.

Finally a sane response. I hope Mr Allison sues all their asses; the police, the DA, and the State legislature.
