The Patriot Act gave the power to do all kinds of things.
They are still sifting through the pages to find out how much more power can be derived from its interpretation.
Usurping the rule of law is it's ultimate aim, and it's doing that quite well, thank you.
Can you say...................thank you Mr. Bush?
Where were those second amendment boys when the tyranny began?
Watching football?
More to the point, those 'Second Amendment boys' were trying to legalize more-murderous guns while outlawing.... Sticks. Used to be a gal could carry a collapsible baton, knowing it was rightly a 'truncheon' if ever used, then while they were trumpeting the '2nd Amendment' in the gun industry, they made a stick illegal. So suddenly you were breaking the law if you didn't carry a *knife* ...which really would both not defend you so well, nor be less complicated if you actually needed to use it... so you're going, 'They don't usually search girls, but....' You could be in Texas where they want automatic weapons ..and they hassle people walking with a cane.
It's kinda BS, that way. I used to be able to carry a baton fairly openly, (It was great when that was legal,) ... ended up having to go to *very* illegal speedchucks and not myself even walk with a rattan cane when I was hurting, while conservatives talked about 'right to bear arms' ...when they meant *guns* and maybe *big sharp pointeys.* I was *in* Texas, they may want lots of guns, but they don't care for the Second Amendment if it means 'I don't want a gun, I don't want a knife, I want a *stick.* Especially the kind of stick that lets me show off my escrima stance while making a kadathunk sound. So I have everyone's attention when I say 'Gentles, we thank you for your very merry interest, but we're just passing through, tonight.'
*deep breath.* Violence does bother me, but even that 'Second Amendment' thing is really about arming paranoid upper classes.
Who for some reason think there's no gun big enough to walk where I've lived. Where there's actually people. Who live there. That you could meet.
