Subway, Bruce Davidson's classic collection of New York City photography, is being re-released this fall by Aperture books. Bruce will join Brian Lehrer to talk about his photographs, and we want you to submit your most iconic subway shot. Head underground (or to an elevated track!) and snap a picture, then submit it here. Bruce Davidson will take a look at your submissions, and we'll feature some of our favorites online and on-air. Deadline for submission is 11:59pm on Sunday, October 16th.
This will also be an interesting experiment in the reaction of the MTA and the NYPD, post 9/11, to lots of photographers on the subway system.
More on
Subway here. BTW if you're not familiar with Bruce, his books
East 100th Street and
Brooklyn Gang are full of remarkable classic images.

I read a story about this series once. Bruce spent a lot of time printing these images and brought copies to the people he'd been photographing. In once instance he handed a print to one of his young subjects who thanked him, admired the print, and then folded it twice so it'd fit in his pocket.
