Goodbye all!

Unfortunately, I wasn't sure where to post this - there's a "Welcomes and Introductions" section, but not a "Goodbye and Adieu".

So this is my fond farewell to all the folks I've met and shared with on this Forum . Farewell to you all and most of all farewell to Pentax. After a few years with the platform and a healthy dose of LBA for the entire time, I cycled through many many lenses from the cheapest F35-70mm to the FA31 (yes I finally got her). But I'm jumping ship. Unlike most folks who have hankered for full-frame for far too long - and leaving Pentax for their oversight or tardiness - I am jumping the other way. Pentax also failed to deliver the compact system I've been after, a 1/2.33" sensored "Q" c'mon please! The glass is lovely but I would have loved to have that K-r or K-x sensor in a smaller body. I know it's just me, and so I have voted with my feet. I have now cashed it all in and bought into a compact system camera (CSC) to accompany my Fuji X100.

The thing I will miss most of all isn't the FA Ltd lenses - and certainly not the desire for more of them - but the great folks I met on here. I built some lasting friendships with folks on here and hope that we'll still keep in contact even after my betrayal. My highlight was kicking of Single in September last year, and our little posse proved the concept, had a ball....and have a book to prove it ...I'm stoked that the challenge started a year ago survives to this day....though I fear it failed in it's original objective to help cure gear lust.

So to all of you, keep shooting...with whatever you have in hand.

Mark aka stillshunter.

Y'know, you don't have to leave. There's still the NON-PENTAX forum.

Mark, from 4 of our 9 official languages, Sepela gabotse (Sotho), hamba kahle (Zulu), totsiens (Afrikaans) and goodbye (English). As I am Afrikaans, I think that the word "totsiens" describe your departure the best, as it actually means "till we meet again", and I am sure you'll be back! Enjoy your new gear and most important keep on shooting

Close, very close. But I opted for the Olympus in the end.

Well, I knew there was bone I had to pick with you... it's those damn single challenges Actually I have to thank you. It, alone, hasn't curbed my LBA but has forced me to learn to use what I already have. Hope you find what you're looking for.. If not, we'll be right here.

Good luck.

As someone else mentioned... feel free to stick around and hang out in the Non-Pentax Cameras: Canon, Nikon, etc section. Either way... good luck! Fair winds and following seas!

I think m4/3rds is the sweet spot for hybrid still/video cameras today and they have a much larger selection of lenses than Sony.

Well, if you think this is all so useless for lack of digital full frame, give someone that useless 31 for safekeeping (I['ll nominate myself) while you buy a 'full frame' camera and look for equivalent lens, then tell us how much better your photos are.

No worries, we'll be here.

Hey Stills- know what you mean about the aggravation to LBA caused by the Singles in ... challenges - have just got the zenitar FE after wanting one since last September - Apart from the Pentax focussed technical gear discussions there are still lots of interesting threads on this forum - see you around...

I take it you don't believe the persistent rumour of an imminent Pentax APS-C MILC?

You've got a great eye - if your camera captures and records light you're going to make great photographs.
