Las vegas

Anyone here shoot in Vegas? Im looking for suggestions on getting up high to get shots of the strip at night. Perferably a place I can use a tripod, or at least a gorilla pod. Also, I'd prefer it to be cheapish or free, so no "take a helicopter ride" suggestions please. also, I won't have a car.

Thanks.

There are only a few small holes in the wire mesh surrounding the viewing platform big enough to poke your lens through. No way to get close enough to the hole if the camera is on a tripod, and I doubt they'd allow it :-( Otherwise, yep, it's a nice view.

The entire strip is better lit than you would think.

Probably not as high as you would like, the pedways on the newer parts of the strip offer some elevated vantage points. A tripod might not be allowed but a mono or handheld should be fine.

Also the stratosphere thing if you don't mind shooting through glass.

This page seems to offer some options for you.

The Stratosphere has an open-air deck as I recall, but it is on the northern end of the strip and there is little else in the immediate area.

Here's the Eiffel Tower issue...

From the Stratosphere...

I think you might be better off near street level, frankly.
