Obama: God backs jobs plan

We know him as a one-sided compromiser, an accomodator, maybe even aa crypto-DINO, but Obama's starting to go a bit far, no?

Obama: God backs jobs plan - Yahoo! News

QuoteQuote:
President Barack Obama Wednesday said even God wanted to put Americans back to work, invoking divine blessing for his joust with Republicans over measures designed to slice into high unemployment.

Obama also taunted his foes with historic arguments in favor of repairing vital infrastructure once made by conservative icon Ronald Reagan, as he stumped for a $60 billion infrastructure bill being taken up by the Senate.

The president rebuked the House of Representatives for passing a bill reaffirming the US motto "In God We Trust" rather than getting to work on his stalled $447 billion jobs program.

"That's not putting people back to work. I trust in God, but God wants to see us help ourselves by putting people back to work," the president said.

What's next? Will he be explaining natural disasters as God's Smite against some policy or group? Will he be revealing his own initiatives as God telling him to do this? And explaining opposition as God having told him there would be some, but by sticking to it, he'd get his way through adversity?

I took it that he means that God wants people to do things for themselves and in this case the government rather than relying on God to step in and do something. I did not think he said that God talked to him and said create jobs, but rather from the 'God helps those who help themselves"
I personally do not like when any politician or athlete brings in God into play. But also it is in the context that the Congress spent time passing the In God We Trust still Act rather than working on jobs hence it was the timing of it as well that plays in here.

Well, you have it: there's a really, really radical idea Obama is promoting here: that just like corporations, the government is people too! That people can accomplish God's will through government, not just Church and Private Enterprise.

The point is that Congress has the time to pass pointless fluff while they can't tackle the work we sent them there to do. It reads like a quip to me - if you believe in God, then you must realize he cares about people and not whether the phrase "In God we Trust" is upheld. If the republicans are behind creating jobs, why aren't they voting for a bill that....creates jobs?

Maybe God is switching parties (Flip Flopper! and at a much older age than Reagan!) and isn't speaking to the Republicans any longer.

Yes, and I think it's high time our side claimed God!
We still need the Flag, those others who use it as wrapper are not giving due respect and honor to our Commander in Chief. Obama has come close to taking it back from them - eg. the booing of a veteran at the Republican debate.

President Obama on Wednesday mocked a vote Tuesday evening in the House of Representatives to reaffirm "In God we trust" as the nation's motto.

Well, he's obviously not pandering to the 'liberal base' but no one's been listening to us, anyway.

Ain't we just, though. Our fair nation has been described as 'The country that always does the right thing... When all else fails.'

It seems that the theocratic rewrite of the 'motto' has yet to *fail* enough for some.

So just because some Godless journalist or blogger claims Obama was mocking anyone and you read it, that becomes truth? What's the big deal, I think it is about time we point out that God is on our side too.

Besides, I already commented on another thread about what Congress was doing - they should have changed the catchphrase to "in God we REALLY Trust" - now that would have been a job creating bill, as we'd have hired thousands to change the logo on just about everything. Just think, towns full of storefronts where you brought in your paper money so they could insert the word "REALLY" in each, so it could once more be legal tender.

Well there you go. Of course these drivers are all in the 1%... and what's that Sprint Cup? Is Sprint still a company even? I used to have Sprint long distance. Anyway, the design of the Cup looks like Northern Lights to me, which is a crypto-call for making America socialist like Canada and the Nordic countries. But now that God has come out for Obama, we don't have to worry about these things.
