Kudos to 55% of Mississippi

By a vote of more than 55%, Miss. has rejected an amendment which would grant personhood to a blastula, and turn the birth control pill into a murder weapon. The end results of this measure, had it passed, probably would have been more abortions, though performed with coat hangers or in other states while the law made its way through the court system.

I am surprised the sheer stupidity of this initiative didn't draw enough democrats out to win the open gubernatorial race. When you look at the initiatives and the results I think it shows something interesting and positive with regard to actual republican's mood toward reproductive freedoms and women's rights.

Glad to see MS finally do something right. I grew up there (Hattiesburg).

Yeah, if they can't get this silliness through in Miss., then they aren't going to do well anywhere.

Yep, that whole "show ID to vote" thing is ridiculous.
Just think how horrible it would be if we had to show an ID to exercise other rights; like drive a car, or buy alcohol if you look too young, or open a bank account, or get a passport, or enter most Federal buildings, or join the military, or write a check, or....................................................

Was the problem having to show ID, or was it Republican state governments shutting down DMV offices in what they felt would be Democrat areas, not making the free ID options available, etc, making it difficult for students who were living away from home (also tends to be Democrat voters) to exercise their voting rights, etc?
I've read that a lot of "Rebublican" states have been doing their level best to make it as difficult as possible for certain target groups to vote. By coincidence, those target groups tend to vote Democrat.

Students? College Students? You mean the 100% of college students that have a state issued ID as it is a requirement by the university to have one for admittance verification purposes anyways?

Yeah those, only my daughter is one and doesn't have a state issued ID.

Oh, and how are they going to check photo ID when you vote by mail?

Strange, took my niece down last year to get birth certificate so she could get her ID before we took her to Salisbury University for admittance.

Very easily - military can be checked and verified without ID's, state department workers can also, so can red cross workers. For vacationers, tough luck, your vacation seemed to be more important than you voting anyways ...

The goal is to stop the thousands of votes (tens of thousands) that come from 160 year old people that have been dead for the last 80+.

You didn't mention the college kids?

Where are the tens of thousands of 160 year old people dead for the last 80? References?

I do agree that setting up to vote seems so much simpler and less rigorous than getting a drivers license... it's a step above jury duty though, as you actually have to fill out a form to register. But, if you know people in different polling districts who are not going to vote, what's stopping you from making the rounds and voting a few times, 'on their behalf'?

Whatever. The age old tussle here is that the more populist party wants as few obstacles to voting as possible, so their people will vote. The less populist party wants to keep the riff raff out and mainly have their people vote.

It wouldn't matter if they were planning to vote, as long as you get to the polls ahead of them.

Here are just a couple that came up with a simple google search:

MINNESOTA VOTE FRAUD: 2,812 Dead Voters | RedState
Dead people voting - Ballotpedia

Those are just two plucked from the results which refer to small state/county incidents - doesn't take much to figure out an average and put that "10's of thousands" number country wide.

And it should, voting is also just as simple as to get a valid states identification card also. If you can get a ride to the polls to vote or walk to the polls to vote, you can certainly get a ride or walk to the dmv/mva and fill out the small form, show them a bc and get your ID. Honestly, if someone is that lazy to NOT want to get a proper ID, then maybe they shouldn't be voting anyways.

I'm sure you'll write this off for some reason:

Do you have an actual citation for the above? This has been debunked as untrue for longer than you have likely been alive.

I am unable to find any source for the allegations about Minnesota other than right wing blogs which echo one another through Newsmax, Freerepublic, Redstate, etc.

The fact that no one cleans out voter rolls does not mean dead people are voting.
