BangShift.com presents Larry Larson's 2009 Drag Week winning '66 Chevy II running 6.934 at 211.59 mph in Las Vegas at the PSCA Street Car Supernationals. This video shows you all the angles, from inside, underneath the bumper, and outside the car. Larry's car was unchanged from it's Drag Week trim, and had only been outfitted with a new pair of Hoosier DOT legal "slicks". Over the 4 day event, Larry ran 6.99, 7.00, 6.96, and finally 6.93. After the 6.93 on Saturday evening, we added air to the tires, packed the chutes, filled it with pump gas, and cruised the strip for about 4 hours while shooting video and photos.

Bangshift.com brings you Larry Larson's infamous cruise down Las Vegas Blvd following his historic 6.93/211 pass at the PSCA Street Car Super Nationals in Las Vegas on November 21, 2009. To get ready to drive the car on the street, all we did was add air to the tires, pack the chutes, fill it with pump gas, take off the stickers on the windows, and hit the key. This Lenco equpped beast really is a street car. The pass on the video is the 6.96 run from early on Saturday.

Larry Larson proves his car once again to be the fastest street car in the world by completing Hot Rod Magazin'es Drag Week 2010 AND making the first 6 second pass in Drag Week history! Not only did he make a 6 second pass, but he made that pass after driving 1200 miles on country roads, rain, and he did it 20 minutes after a 7.005 pass, hot lapping the car!

Its hardly a "street car" with stripped out interior, full cage, chutes, wheelie bars etc....
Just because he's been driving it on the street, doesnt make it so.

The Las Vegas track record for Pro Stock speed is 208.84mph by Mike Edwards last month compared to 211.59 by the 66 Nova back in 2009. Here is a video I took of Mike Edwards running 211.49 mph last year:

BTW NHRA Pro Stock has a 500 cu in limit and the 66 Nova must have much more than that like the SAR 762 cu in :

Does that beat those Bugattis the 'Top Gear' guys are always on about? That can go like 250 miles an hour on the one road anywhere built for it?

Which is neat, but a small block, four-speed in one of those old Novas and a good suspension would be fine by me.

Actually, I'm having a vision of making a mini-Nomad out of one of those.... My best idea since the 'Puce Deuce.'

The 66 Nova does 6.9's @211 mph with twin-turbo 565 cu in big block:
It get's about 8.5 mpg on the freeway cruising at 70-75 mph. Larry says they haven't worked on the highway tune much, but he might do that this spring to try to get 10 mpg or so out of it.
