Possible Cool photo opportunity.

I saw these video's earlier today, and thing that it'd be a cool photo opportunity for anyone who has a chance.

I don't know how you could find out when they're plowing the tracks in your area, but if you told your local train station what you had in mind they might be willing to get you some information

Excellent vids, really enjoyed them and the others.

Me thinks rather than the station try the workers BUT I think you'll have to find your own vantage point because for safety reasons (insurance) no RR company will let you onto their property.

Stu - I was actually thinking the other day, after a foot of fresh snow, that seeing the tracks get plowed would be pretty cool. The videos are cool.

I've lead a seriously sheltered life apparently. I've only lived in California, far from the snow. But it is funny to me that in my 48 years of life it never occured to me that the train tracks need to be cleared. DUH! What an education these videos were for me. Glad I caught your post Stu.

Stu These were cool. It's a blast to watch them do this for real. The stuck plow is quite something. Amazing that that a little frozen water can stop 12,000-15,000 horsepower and 200,000 kilograms.

It would be fun to shoot with a decent long lens and this winter looks like there could be some opportunities for this. Perfect for the Bigma as the distances change.

Sweet videos, for all the train tracks I have seen in all the countryside’s I have been to and for all the snow I lived through I have never seen that. This makes me feel better about shoveling my meager driveway.

I've seen that a few times on the tracks near where I live, it's VERY impressive! Let me tell you, that snow FLIES!

I would not be able to take good pics though as they usually do that at night when there is no train traffic.

I'd be curious to find out if they do something similar in the desert (surely there are train tracks that go thru some deserts?) after a sandstorm blows a dune over the tracks?
