A rhetorical question I think. America has always been an Oligarchy. The 20th Century was an aberration.

Well, since America has only existed for 2 centuries, plus a few years, maybe the 19th was the aberration and not the 20th.

I should have half of the 20th Century. From the Great Depression till Ronald Reagan. Reagan and Bush 1 dug up it's grave, but it was Bill Clinton and Newt Gingrich who pulled the stake from it's heart.

In most cases, signs would point toward "yes", but only because we like it that way...otherwise we would never vote 80% of the candidates into office.

From an economic point of view, I'd say America has existed for at least 3 centuries. Not a whole lot changed in that regard in 1776, except where the taxes went.
