Comet Lovejoy

After its' recent brush with the sun, Cmt Lovejoy is putting in an appearance just before dawn. Apparently those of us in southern climes are more blessed. I was clouded out this morning so will attempt again tomorrow. Exposure details and others can be found on this link IceInSpace - View Single Post - Kreutz SunGrazer Lovejoy

ready for lovejoy

I have a decent easterly view over water from the attic. The rig is mobilized and ready to go if I can wake up on time. The attic has a window that opens up quite wide. Made a little tripod rig that grips the side of the sky window which can take a good 5 kg load and be set up in under 1 minute, Bets are on - I bet the weather will be crap BECAUSE the rig is ready to go.

I feel your pain. Setting up for eclipses usually ensures inclement weather for me.

My effort from this morning. Image unprocessed. The suspect the "cloud" may have more to do with flare, and light scatter in the optics and perhaps a dirty sensor than atmospherics. 15secs @ISO 3200,Tokina 28-70mm @ f/4.5 and 28mm. Pentax *ist DS.
