Does this listing look suspicious?

No, look at the photographs. There is something specific that is not shown.

No focus grip. Better apply some black duct tape.

No, there are no images of the glass. The one time I saw an item like this that was listed as NR (No Returns) and it had LOTS of photos of the body of the lens and none of the glass and bought it the lens was completely shot with scratches and separation issues. Fortunately my mistake was very inexpensive, but this one is not.

Picture #2 show what looks like an objective. A glancing, oblique view -- no shot looking into the front. Very very suspicious...

Except that it is clearly states in the description that the glass has no scratches and that the lens works great:

There seems to be little dust on the glass but theres no scratches or damage. This has been tested and it works great.

This item also has a 7 day return policy, not that the stated return policy means anything on eBay. If an items is not as described, the buyer can always return it and get his or her money back. Also, keep in mind this particular seller has a 99.6% positive feedback on almost 6,000 transactions.

Bottom line, I don't personally see any issues with this auction, although I agree a few more pictures of the glass might have been helpful for potential buyers.

Could be you're right. Problem is its listed as "NR" which typically means no returns. Their statement later says not as described you can return with their permission. Perhaps, having been burned by another "Top Seller", I am a bit paranoid when no pics of the actual glass are shown.

NR usually means No Reserve.

Right, but since they describe the glass as being "scratch free" and the lens as "working great", it would certainly be consider "not as described" if it were literally missing the glass

Most sellers that are not lens or photo specialists have no idea how to present and/or inspect lenses. (My favorite listings are along the lines "Tiffen 49mm lens! Looks great!"). Just make sure you can return it and be thankful their carelessness will help keep the price down.

Seller has too much negative feedback for my comfort level. That and the missing trunk. How, exactly, do you lose the trunk?

The seller is a pawn shop. The person who pawned/sold the lens to the current seller obviously didn't have the trunk. Who knows if he/she was the original owner or not. I wouldn't read anything into the fact that the trunk isn't there

As for the seller's negative feedback, I see no issue with 1 in 250 people leaving non-positive feedback. In fact, the last two non-positive feedbacks the seller received (which were both neutral) were from buyers who weren't happy with the shipping cost. Sorry, but if you're buyer and bid on something knowing what the shipping cost is going to be, don't bitch about it after the fact. Take it into account before making you bid, or don't bid at all. Sorry for the mini-rant, but nothing irritates me quite eBay buyers who leave non-positive feedback in situations where the seller has done nothing wrong.

YMMV. Why didn't the pawner have the trunk? All sorts of possible explanations, many of them contra-indicative of a lens being treated with reasonable care.

I'm looking down the list of 10+ years of neutral/negative feedback as presented by toolhaus.org. I agree that 3 out of 250 is not a bad rate, and no question there is a lot of bogus negative feedback on eBay. Again, YMMV. I might take a chance with a low-cost item from a seller I don't fully trust, but for an item of this class I will be more selective. More power to the winning bidder if it turns out to be a bargain. I will be curious as to what the lens goes for, but I will not be bidding.

Looks like anybody in the Phoenix metro area could stop by the shop and inspect in-person...
