Pentax Repair Service (%^&$*)

is terrible!!

Last friday i picked up my da*300mm thats been away for more than 4 months due to a broken AF circuit (according to Pentax EU)

Saturday i took it out for some serious testing and made some nice shots again. Today i put it on the camera again and it didn't function again. Same problems as 4 months ago.

What a QC!

Lol and they said that they got it fixed? They should just give you a new one.

De Beukelaer (NL/BE) isn't known for easy fixing. Its going back and i want a new one, but that's going to be quit a hassle.

I am truly sorry to hear of your troubles. If the lens is/was a new one then you should demand a replacement. 4 months is a huge chunk out of the warranty period and if they don't replace the lens I would demand an extension of the warranty period in writing.

My 50-135 has been away for 5 weeks and will be back in a couple of days. They say that they've replaced an O-Ring. I have no idea weather that's part of the zoom mechanism though - which was the reason I took it to them. It sounds more like weather sealing to me.

Probably the motor was overloaded due to some hidden jam. That's my speculation on SDM failure anyway.
