It's a good thing the oligarchs funneled all the oil and gas money into their bank accounts instead of using it on silly things like nuclear submarine maintenance.

As far as I have read the fire was probably not related to any maintenance issues ... it started near the submarine which then caught fire later on.

Let's hope "normal" means "safe".

The blaze at the Roslyakovo dock, one of the main dockyards of Russia's northern fleet 1,500 km (900 miles) north of Moscow, is believed to have started when wooden scaffolding caught fire during repairs to the submarine, which some Russian news agencies said had been hoisted into a dry dock.
Some dock worker probably left a blow-torch lit.

BBC News - Russian nuclear submarine fire contained but not out

It seems that it (indeed) was a fire on the dock engulfing the sub, not a fire originating from the sub, which - we are told - is still in ok shape internally. In particular, the nuclear missiles had been removed and the reactor was shut down and should still be intact.

The (updated) BBC article has it that they eventually did just that. Also another mystery explained: I kind of wondered how the outer hull of a submarine might have caught fire as some of the earlier reports indicated, turns out it was coated with rubber, probably a stealth feature (?).
