Thank you for the greeting.

Why do I get the impression that you'll probably be celebrating Robbie Burns day early next year as well and that a few 'wee drams' might come into each celebration?

Isn't it also 'first footing' tonight or tomorrow morning?

I got the first and I think the last lines figured out. I may need a drink or two to figure out #'s 2 and 3

Line 2 is a problem for me. All the rest is easy.

Bloody scotties

And here am I, someone who got married in St Margaret's Chapel at the top of Edinburgh Castle, having endured the perp walk down to the officers' mess proceeded by a bagpiper and suffering the embarrassment of being the focus of a thousand cameras (it was 4 July), surviving driving out through the gates in a VW Beetle with tin cans tied to the back bumper (squaddies can be brutal and the mob on the gate were experts), and I still can't understand line #2.

Please take mercy

Richard.

There are some things that don't sound to friendly to my ears.

like 'reek' would sound like 'smell' to me.
the 'eneuch' sounds worrying.
the 'moose' must be called Rudolf, right.

So, I called upon Google and this cleared up the Mist:

May the best you have ever seen be the worst you will ever see.
May the mouse never leave your grain store with a tear drop in its eye.
May you always stay hale and hearty until you are old enough to die.
May you still be as happy as I always wish you to be.

Better

Best Wishes to you as well
