Then we also have neologisms based on abbreviations: CalTrans, CalFire (California departments of Transportation and Firefighting).

But I like acronyms: LS/MFT, UAW/MF, TANSTAAFL, U.N.C.L.E. etc.

FF can be full-frame or front-focus. I don't believe I've ever seen HF.

HF would be 135/Half Frame

Half frame was almost the exact size of APS-C

The 35 mm film standard for motion picture film was established in Thomas Edison's lab by William Kennedy Laurie Dickson. Mr. Dickson took 70 mm film stock supplied by George Eastman's Eastman Kodak Company. The 70 mm film was cut lengthwise into two equal width (35 mm) strips, spliced together end to end, and then perforated along both edges. The original picture size was 18 x 24 mm, which in modern times is considered to be a "half-frame" format for still photography. There were four perforations on each side of a motion picture frame.

Personally, I don't care what you call them, acronym, neologisms, abbreviation. They're all a form of shortening a word which ends with a lot of people not understanding what the hell you're talking about.

How many times have you seen someone ask, "what does that mean" ?.

It's really just laziness.

I'll get phone texts full of laziness from my sons and I usually have to ring to ask what they're on about.

I resemble that remark!

Actually, I shot with Pen-FT system, and Canon Demi-EE17 and Dial-35 cams, and published photos from each. T'ain't no big thang. Although I tended to mix a bit of Kodalith and Acufine in with the Dektol.
