You've just given me a tangible glimpse into the Codex Pentaxius.

I've begun boxing up my K10D and all its accessories for a massive eBay auction, all in preparation for that life-changing hardware you've hinted at, Wendy. Everything I've ever wanted my K10D to do, and it will be done better still.

Thanks!

OK thibs, if the KwhateverD isn't APS-H, then why does Wendy emphasise the "H" in her post? But, on the other hand, I can just wait and see like all the rest of us.

Hi Wendy,

Being an old Detroiter from the other side of the tracks (Hamtramck), I know a girl from "The Farms" wouldn't try to kid us so I'm hoping this "H" thing is for real. That would blow the socks off the market. What fun speculation this is.

Ken

"A new body"

Well, I don't know about anybody else, but with 58 yr old knees, back, and most especially, brain, I'm sorely tempted by the thought of a 'new body'!

NaCl(unfortunately I don't think Pentax has one of those :cries: )H2O

So, uh, can capture in HDTV format? Wow, 1920×1080 — a whole TWO megapixels. This new camera will be earth-shattering.

"HD" as in "high definition"? Could they be using a smaller version of the Mysterium CMOS sensor from the Red video camera? 12 megapixels....60fps..

That would be a full frame sensor at 12mp and 9:5 ratio. The rumour's for 14mp, but then, you can never have too may rumours!

Hmm, maybe -- that fits with the rumor of a new file format.

Oh, great. That's what we need.

Microsoft has patents on the technology in HD Photo. A Microsoft representative stated in a January 2007 interview that in order to encourage the adoption and use of HD Photo, the specification is made available under the Microsoft Open Specification Promise, which asserts that Microsoft offers the specification for free, and will not file suit on the patented technology, and that open-source software can therefore make use of the format.[4] However, as of Microsoft's December 4, 2007 update, HD Photo is still not among the technologies that Microsoft has listed as being covered by the Open Specification Promise.[5]
