Ooh, that's kind of neat. I think I caught a rare sight of an owl winging around the other night. You hear them sometimes, but it's rare to see them catch the light.

It is boring for most of the footage, then the last few seconds are amazing.

I remember some years ago walking in a piney woods in midafternoon when movement in my peripheral vision alerted me. I turned to see a large owl perhaps 30 yards away launch itself into the air in total silence. A really impressive experience, on a par with experiencing a Monarch butterly migratory rest stop.

They are magnificent birds. Being mostly nocturnal hunters, it's a treat to see one. My only shots have been of captive birds.

Just last week I saw a red tail hawk swoop out of the sky and try to snag a ring neck pheasant rooster. I was driving slow on a little farm road looking for hawks to shoot and it caught my eye in the peripheral as well. I saw the tuck its wings into a dive, disappear into the tall grass, almost instantly the pheasant started squaking and gobbling like its life was being threatened and then I see the pheasant take flight out of the grass and a second or two later the hawk flew out of the grass and perched in a nearby tree.
The pheasant lived apparently but I would be surprised if it didn't have some punctures from the talons on the hawk.

Wow impressive. I wonder what sort of camera was used?
