These are amazing. Not only the content, but the quality of the photos. They look like they were taken only yesterday.

They should track down the families of the women in the photos that are named and do a documentary IMHO. I stopped at my moms house today and showed her the photos on that website on her laptop and she said she was a teenager back then in high school.

Sad to see the film we have lost. I have some Kodachromes my father took in the late '30s. Last time I saw them they looked brand new. (Hums Paul Simon's "Kodachrome" in an elegaic mood....) As I remember Kodachrome has the best longevity of any color film, but Ektachrome has the best projection life? Can anyone comment? I do remember that perhaps 35 years ago Kodak projected detectable color shift in C-41 negatives in as little as seven years. I sure hope its better now!

Anyone here: what sort of camera would use 4 x 5 Kodachromes format (back then) ?
