I realize that gun owners tend to get a little testy when someone threatens their babies, oops small ***** compensators, I mean guns... but..
Quote: In one breath you say it is a complicated issue, then you turn right around and attribute "Toronto's low crime rate [to] and restrictive gun laws". Seems to me you are very confused about where you stand.
Does not mean I attributed Toronto's crime rate to gun laws, I said it shows that more than guns are a factor, You should learn to read. Putting words into others mouths and then attacking them for saying what you think they said is one of the worst crime on the internet. You ought be kicked out of the discussion just for that. But since that's not going to happen, I'll kick myself out. if you can't understand my points and attack me for presenting them there's no point in me staying with it.
Quote: That is just foolish, naive, and irresponsible! Do they lock the doors to their businesses? Do you lock your car doors? Do you also leave the keys in the ignition. If no, why not?
That's so typical of gun wielding America. You can't even understand the concept. But really, yes those who are non-violent also refuse to call the police to investigate crimes. It's part of the philosophy. It is not irresponsible, it's a strategy of de-escalating violence. Where as the gun toters believe in the escalation of violence until someone is dead or disabled. Some of us have faith that two human beings can work things out if they just calm down and make an effort.
35 Then Jesus asked them, “When I sent you without purse, bag or sandals, did you lack anything?” “Nothing,” they answered.
36 He said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one. 37 It is written: ‘And he was numbered with the transgressors’[b]; and I tell you that this must be fulfilled in me. Yes, what is written about me is reaching its fulfillment.”
38 The disciples said, “See, Lord, here are two swords.” Luke 22:35-38
"And he said 'it is enough'." How does two swords for all the disciples, in fact for all Christians translate into every man owning a gun? Not only that, no where does he say what those swords are to be used for? That is just so typical of the NRA gun loving world. An obscure quote with no clear meaning is used to justify their violent and in many countries criminal behaviour, when more clear and direct directives like "thou shall not kill" and "turn the other cheek" are ignored. You blaspheme the book you claim to follow. I don't even claim to believe it and I can still poke holes in that logic. Americans have their heads so far up their asses, that a guy like Zimmerman, who would be locked up in any country in the world is walking the streets free in America. I guess America is the land of the free, ya, free to shoot innocent youths on their trip to the corner store. Free to shoot whoever you want as long as you make up some story about how you thought they about to commit a felony. You guys aren't free, you're just totally scared. You're fear has imprisoned you. Grow some balls. You empower your fear, and then call people who don't share it names, like naive etc. It's sad, but it's your choice to live that way. Personally, I don't buy it, and I'm healthier person for it. And s who is a threat? Zimmerman and people like him are threats to everyone. That your society can't control them says all you need to know.
Anyone who claims they would shoot anyone for this that or the other has no idea what it means to take a life. Every person I know who has done it has regretted it, even when their lives were in danger. The people who can shoot someone without psychological damage are psychopaths. It would seem, American society is run by them and for them.
