Vintage Cameras Upcycled Into iPhone Charging Docks

Hi All,

Etsy seller Roberto Altieri creates unique iPhone/iPod charging docks out of old — and hopefully defunct — Pentax and Minolta SLR cameras from the 1960s and 1970s.

This seems pretty cool...

I'm on the fence on that one. Interesting idea. I think the implementation could have been better. The camera lying on its back doesn't live up to what I envisioned before I clicked on the link. I wonder if there's a way to modify a camera to charge a phone and keep it upright. That would look pretty cool.

It just kills me to see a Spottie used for that, laugh.

That looks really dumb and very poorly done (drill hole through bottom, glue some cheap dock to a body cap?).

But I bet the hipsters will love it.

I'm unimpressed. That's like drilling drain holes in a '56 Chevy, sticking a pot on top, and calling it a planter.

Wild guess here, but you thought that the phone is inside?

At least that was my first thought. Imagine a film camera iPhone case, which you can take pics with!

Well, if you wanted to do that, you could pretty much take any old flash foot, (Say, the bottom part of a defunct TTL cord,) run one of those charging cords or anything like that through it, and stick it on any old camera you wanted to display.

Maybe with a charge port under the flip up flash, otherwise just looks silly really, prefer that lady who makes lamps out of old cameras- could still use in a photo context.

Lacks any aesthetic value. Looks like an accident waiting to happen.

Sad end to a fine camera.

The symbolism of a cell phone camera standing over the spotty as if the cell phone was "victorious" on an African hunting safari bothers me.

Well, Spotties are a number of years too early for that.

I wouldn't mind seeing some digicams and cellphones ground up and made into photographic film...
