I watched "The Last Waltz" some time ago. I could not then and do not now understand the attraction. They sing worse than Bob Dylan. I was totally hammered for saying so :-)

Some of the songs themselves are OK, though.

Bye, Levon.

I still giggle when I see Levon acting in The Right Stuff.
Their radio hits are acceptable but I cannot sit through entire albums either.

Yup, I've met a few people along the way that just don't get The Band. They were (and still are in many ways) far away ahead of their time.

Levon will be missed, he was an adult portion.

I love The Band's music. I saw them at Maple Leaf Gardens with Bob Dylan, longer ago than I care to mention and I saw Levon's All-Stars in a very cozy outdoor concert after The Band broke up. He had a unique driving style of drumming that propelled the music. The Last Waltz was easily one of the best rock movies ever.

There are only two of five Band members left. Sex, drugs and rock & roll took their toll. My favourite Band member was bassist and co-singer Rick Danko.

I had the pleasure of seeing a concert in Banff Alberta, Levon was touring with the Cate Brothers. It was one of the best concerts I have had the pleasure of seeing.
Godspeed Levon. You will be missed, and you will be remembered.
