If my wife is reading this - I do not even have a clue - just a little here and a little there. I haven't even been keeping track. It all adds up, but who is really counting and knows for sure? It's just a little hobby.....

I don't know the total amount I've spent on gear over the years...and I'm not sure I want to know. lol I'm a cheap SOB and don't mind waiting until I find a bargain, so the value is much higher than what I've actually paid.

No clue. I have bought and sold too many camera bodies and lenses over the last few years that I have no way of calculating the net amount spent.

Phil.
Bought new is $2,569.

I've kept a spreadsheet of the used transactions. Your way is much better.

I don't like to see it as money spent but rather invested. Some of my gear has had huge increases in value and some is becoming harder to find so it will probably increase as well.

See when everyone talks about Pentax FF, this is what the are talking about. Not full form, but Fudge Factor on what you claim you spent vs. what you really spent.

About $8000, not nearly as much as I've spent on my audio system.

Almost $1500 in less than 2 years of DSLR use. Planning on spending another $1000+ next year! My bank will not appreciate this..

For the digital system I have at the moment, about $1300 (consists of K20d, DA* 55, DA* 50-135, AF500ftz).
I have spent much more than that, at least $6000 in total, but have sold much of it and gotten a good sum of the spent money back. I also have a few items unaccounted for because they are on the "For sale" list but I haven't gotten around to listing them yet.

See, what I like about this hobby is that you can purchase something used for a good price, put a little mileage on it, and then after you have played around with it and started lusting over something new, you can sell it again and not lose much on it. Keeps money spent from LBA in check.

1,630 € so around 2,000$

mainly due to the K-x Body (500€), DA40 (300€), DA*55 (400€).

I am not certain if this is a question about the current value of photography equipment (the way I answered the question) or, lifetime purchasing of photography equipment, minus sales of equipment. I tend to have one major purchase a year plus maybe a new body (I generally sell the old one). So, while my lifetime purchases have been high and I have a lot of equipment, it was purchased over a ten year period.
