Some sucker will buy it. As PT Barnum said, there's one born every minute. Trolling for suckers always succeeds eventually.

Not sure why you say that. If someone bites, then he's made more from the lens than any of us would. If not, what has it cost him?
Also, realize that equipment in smaller and remote countries costs more, so his basis for pricing is different, even if we don't think it is reasonable. I've seen lots of lenses sell for a lot more than I would pay, or have paid. Picked up a SuperTak 135/3.5 with case and caps for $20+ shipping in a listing everyone else seems to have missed, but most others have gone for $30-50 or more. auction sites are bit like casinos, bit of luck, bit of adrenaline and a bit of insanity at work

The reason I said that is because he's a liar. Look at Eddie's post, and you can read that the seller is lying about the condition of the lens.

I should have said, "meh, what a stupid idiot".

TROLLING FOR SUCKERS: Only one is needed.

I have shipped lenses to Asia at winning bids that would be unthinkable stateside. Makes me happy as a seller! And means that I'd have no chance if I were bidding. That's bidness.

Anyone who believes a 40+ year old lens is unused without visual proof, a complete documented history and a sworn testimonial by some late night hawker of sharp knives and exercise gadgets is the idiot. I guess we'll have to see if it sells at all.

I've been a lot more surprised at the prices people will pay for either common broken lenses, or lenses infested with fungus. The former might have some use, but the latter just seems too risky to me, for many reasons.

Yep, I'm always amazed at what people will pay for damaged goods. Heck I'm stunned by what things get listed at all the time. Look at some of the current Tomioka prices. absolutely insane. I know they are good lenses but not that kind of good. One of the reasons they got their rep was the ability to get them for low prices. there's a 55 1.4 on the bay at $900 or so - absolutely nuts. I would maybe go to $100 on that for the extra speed over the Super Tak 55 but that's it. otherwise like a super tak it's a $50-60 lens tops

Last year I sold a disassembled incomplete Enna Lithagon 35/2.8 for well over US$100. Yah, the market is nutz. Meanwhile, a member here just reported getting the 55/1.4 with a Sears-Ricoh TLS body for US$22. So they're still available at good prices. But if I list a couple Sears M42s (28 and 135) as Tomioka, they might pay for a Kr. Ain't supply and demand awesome?

@RioRico - I'm envious, but not so much the prices you get but the low shipping costs. I picked up a slightly damaged 55/2 with a Spotmatic for $11, but the shipping from the west coast of Canada added another $15. What I need to do is start offloading some stuff that I no longer think I will make use of, so lets hope the frenzy and ignorance continues.

Mind you, all said and done this is peanuts compared to the housing market here. List for the high price of X (700,000+) and then get another 7-10% more as the buyer get into a feeding frenzy. But that, as they say, is another story.

My neighbours just listed at 539000 for an attached row house with a 14.5 x 52 foot lot. it sold in 3 days for 570000 with no riders (like say a home inspection or subject to financing..... eeek!) 3 houses on the street went up the same weekend this was the first to sell and the smallest. that insane price is considered entry level now. nuts. it's the 3rd time it sold and the 6th time a house in the row has sold since i bough in 88. Every time I shake my head and think man they'll never recover that investment : I paid 132000 and thought I paid too much LOL (I did in Interest rates were 11% on my first mortgage)
