Scientist also agree that another ice age will come eventually

At least that wil eventually bring North america the much needed water that millions will be in grave need of.

As for the NYT article; most americans unfortunately won't care much, might choose to ignore it, etc... Until it hits them - perhaps directly.

What exactly will america look like in the near future?? Millions of americans facing mandatory water rationing, but it won't help much. Eventually millions will also go to turn on their taps and nothing will happen. This will spell the beginning of mass migration of millions within america.

Not long after a majority of the rivers throughout america will be so well tapped that they will also not be able to be used for commercial boat traffic - if any trafic at all.

Coming quite soon to a state near you.

One of the strangest items is that besides California being effected, the second largest state effected will ironically be Florida - a state mostly surrounded by water

Oh, good grief! Yes there probably will be another Ice Age. So what? We don't know when; to use this as a reason to ignore the current warming trend is absurd. Brother Fisheye Freak fatously equates calls for immediate action with Nazi and Stalinist propaganda, what a load of C**P!

As anyone who's had any amount of education in the sciences, or who even reads widely knows, science is NEVER absolute. It is in the nature of the beast that there is uncertainty. Science advances via questioning, testing, replicating experimental results. The problem with the climate conundrum is, of course, that "experimenting" is hazardous. We can hardly return the climate to a base state to have another go at it, can we. In a sense trom the beginning of the industrial revolution we have conducted an experiment - what would happen if we pump increasing quantities of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere?

We are now finding out. The consensus of responsible science is that yes, more carbon dioxide correlates positively with rising global temperatures, regardless of what the Heartland Institute and such towering intellects as Rush Limbaugh and James Inhofe assert. Since we KNOW the results, its time to do something about it. Otherwise the world will be an increasingly unpleasant abode. What is so difficult about acknowledging the facts?

Here is a bit of scientific fact... That peoe can change the enviroment is an incredibly short amount of time; and not for the better.

Think of how this one is enviromentally related...

A type of crop science quickly kills how many organisms during the 70's and 80's. Also causing irreversable damage to human genetics.

That today; thanks to companies such as Bayer and Monsanto; most all crops on the planet are owned by just four companies. The species/variety of plants have decreased by almost ninety percent on about two decades.

Can't wait to see all of the radioactive debris start washing ashore here in North america; directly from Japan. Yet a majority of our nuclear reactorshere are even less safe than that one is.

Signed by someone with degrees from four seperate colleges/universities; including... Point Park, CMU, and MIT

Did you know that the often quoted "97% of scientists believe in man made global warming" is a fraud? The way it was done was via a postal survey, with 4,000 replies, but, for whatever reason, they used just 77 of the replies with 75 supporting AGW. .
Huh? Did you read the study for their selection criteria? Report: 97 percent of scientists say man-made climate change is real Expert credibility in climate change http://junksciencecom.files.wordpress.com/2011/09/pnas-2010-anderegg-1003187...climate_change The statistic is 97% of climate scientists. You can put "scientist" after a name, but that does not mean that they have any expertise in climate studies. It is a bit like the evolution statistics which certain religious groups put out a while which attempted to show some scientific dissent on evolution by using the opinions of scientists who had no training or publication in biology or geology when about 99% + of those with actual expertise support evolution.

oh great another fool running around crying the sky is falling, I mean the weather is changing...
those fools never heard of ice ages? the climate was NEVER STABLE IN THE HISTORY OF THE PLANET!
They uncovered a poplar forrest (all fossils) in Baffin Island fer f's sakes... it used to be warm up there before the ice covered everything!
Who gives a crap if the weather is changing? Who ever said global warming was a bad thing never spent a winter in Manitoba!
Our scientists need to quit bichin about co2 and focus on what crops we should be planting where to take advantage of the longer growing seasons.

some people remind me of a mosquito floating down the river on it's back with a hard on, hollering "Raise the draw bridge!!!!"...
truthfully you ain't that big, you'll pass and be forgotten soon enough... the bridge will be fine. please STFU, and lets have some peace and quiet..ok?

the biggest threat to our species survival is us, not the weather.
you get one dirty bomb going off in NY and if the radio active dust spreads across the plains where it poisons food crops that feed millions across the globe and there will be a famine.. even countries that hate the usa and canada, like trashcanistan depend on our food aid to feed thier people!
water and food crops are where our scientists need to focus their skills... study the weather, tell us what to plant where and when to ensure crops are bountiful. Work on preventing soil erosion and dealing with global water shortages...
Let the politicians work on distributing resources, and preventing terrorism and war by ensuring food water and energy for people whereever they live... birth control, food water and energy will prevent war and famine and disease.
and get out and enjoy the sunshine and quit complaining about the climate!

Obviously there's a difference between opion and fact; and what facts one chooses to believe.

There's also just a bit of a difference between (say) a non accredited Everest type of school and having a PhD; with both professional and educational backgrounds in science. Go to a real accredited school and simply speak to someone in their science department.

See the facts or keep the blinders on - either way the facts do not change.

BINGO! I'm glad you finally see the point of the people warning of global warning.

If it were merely the God-created weather pattern, which has changed over the life of the planet, then would all God-fearing people be working out how we'd survive the upcoming hot cycle? But since it's the God-fearing people themselves doing the warming, surely it a) doesn't exist and b) cannot and should not be remedied because the DOLLAR is MIGHTIER than GOD (who has been known to provide retribution to human sinning and hubris...)

by that logic, if you truly care about saving the world, I suggest an experiment...
we start by measuring all the co2 in the air.. then you and all the other treehuggers and climate change affectionados please hold your breath for five minutes so we can measure the co2 levels again... if humans are having a huge effect, I will concede to your superior knowledge.
