My Neighborhood Has Definitely Gone To....

Shiz!!!!

Last night, not too late, a guy walked into a local store I'm in pretty much all the time, robbed the place, demanded drugs, left. FYI, that's about the 11th such robbery up and down the main street I live near in the past year. We've also had quite a few bank robberies, car jacking incidents, home invasions, rapes, murders, et all. On top of which the traffic has gotten crazier and is more jammed around here. All of a sudden we have a multitude of new people moving here. The population is just exploding because everyone out of work moves here thinking they'll get jobs, NOT, and they're all freakin driving like maniacs. I'm beginning to feel like I can't leave my own home and not risk personal injury. What's funny is this is supposed to be the "safe" side of a fairly small city. It's even worse on the "bad" side where we used to live. Police keep saying the crime stats are down, but if this is DOWN I'd sure like to know what their idea of up is...

This store is literally around the corner from my house. We are in there probably several times a week. I've had it with this crap. I told my folks I'm going to start looking for a new place for all of us and we're moving whether they like it or not. They're still resisting but this latest admittedly has them a bit shook. I'm ready to move. I've had about enough of this place. I've lived in several really big cities, including Spanish Harlem in NYC, and I actually felt safer than I do in this town. Between the lack of jobs, the gangs, and the drugs it's just gotten to be really bad here of late...

Slaying suspect Luka Rocco Magnotta added to Interpol's wanted list

- Porn star butchers and cannibalizes his friend
- Films it and posts the video online (it's still online on a gruesome video site)
- Mails body parts to politicians
- Dumps body remains in a residential neighborhood

That happened in my neck of the woods, if this story were a movie, we'd say the story was pushing it...

Wheatfield and VonBaloney ... Thankfully you are right... this is sensational and downright too crazy even for a "slasher movie" script material.

Magkelly ... Sadly small robberies, or muggings are quite common in my neck of the woods... it's mostly addicts needing drug money, or street gang teens mugging other kids to steal their iPhones at the bus stop. The silver lining (if there is one) is that none of the crimes are committed with firearms (they simply are not available here).

most of the criminals in jail here in savannah are in for petty shoplifting, parole volition and child support non-payment. the east side can be pretty dangerous though. murders every now and again. sad to say thats 'no big deal' of course. but I wouldn't otherwise consider savannah overly dangerous. I think we have more cops than crime, if the number that routinely respond to a simple traffic violation is any indication.

Actually, it's almost to the credit of this town where they studiously-ignore what's going on in the rest of the South, unless there's money involved.

Barely a whimper when everyone voted 'librul democrat' and found their candidates turning their coats the same day they were sworn in, ...but there's advantages to them not caring.

Yeah, I saw that this morning. That is totally gruesome. Actually we've had a few serial killers from here. I guess they like the warm weather or something. It's not the Dahmers or the Bundy's I worry about. For all they're all over the media they're still a fairly unusual thing. If I can't head into my local drug or grocery store, without worrying that I'm going to get shot or car jacked in broad daylight there's something very wrong happening in this town. Used to be you knew your neighbors. Now they come and go so much you're lucky if you even know their names....
