I ordered the new iPad from MacMall on Friday and it was shipped by FedEx the same day by 2-day service and arrived at FedEx in Newark NJ @10:13AM June 17 but they will sit on it because it says Estimated delivery Jun 19, 2012 by 4:30 PM. If I ordered it from B&H on Friday with UPS Ground I would get it today (June 18 2012) but B&H did not have the new 64GB iPad with Verizon 4G LTE in stock on Friday.

UPS has generally been reliable for me. Yes, UPS Mail Innovations can be very slow, but I never had a package come much later than the scheduled delivery date. One case where a package did came late was due to exceptionally high volume around Black Friday and Cyber Monday. UPS did miss an origin scan once, messing up the tracking, but the package came on time. I had no serious cases of packaging damage, except for some denting of a box for an inexpensive desktop computer (which did cause the system's case to be slightly deformed).

No logistics carrier can be 100% reliable, but for the two dozen or so UPS packages I've handled, problems have been few and far apart.

BTW I ordered the iPad case from Amazon and the iPad camera connection kit from MacMall after I ordered the iPad and received both yesterday by USPS !

FedEx let my iPad sit from 10:13AM Sunday in Newark NJ until today :

UPS tends to overestimate the amount of time required to ship a package over ground or UPS Mail Innovations. I just had two UPSMI packages come some 2-3 business days earlier than the estimated delivery date.
