It was a day of miracles, Father's Day 2012, for Mitt Romney on his campaign bus tour (motto: "We're rolling over the United States"). He went to the magical store of Wawa in Quakerstown, Pennsylvania, which is in America, goddamnit. Real America. Not the fake America of New York or California, where they vote for black Muslims from Hawaii, which is just a town in Kenya. If you've never been, a Wawa is a convenience store that sells sandwiches. You know the truck stops with Subways in 'em? Yeah, that's pretty much Wawa except a little cleaner.

But, by gum, Mitt Romney was gonna show he was a man o' the people and that he can join them in their sneeze-guard covered condiment bars o' normalcy. See, Romney had ordered his hoagie on the Wawa touch screen ordering system, which Wawa installed in 2001 in order to catch up to local competition, Sheetz, which had had the touch screen hoagie ordering system already. A mother****er doesn't need to talk to a person to get his ham and cheese on a roll.

The touch screen was ****in' fantastic, according to Romney, who had to tell the crowd about it at a rally later, "You press a little touchtone key pad… You touch this, touch this, touch this, go pay the cashier, and there's your sandwich. It's amazing!" Romney probably loved it because it meant that someone got fired. Christ, no one tell him about ATMs.

The miracle of the touch screen is actually the miracle of the free market, gosh darnit: "It was a technology, he said, that had been fostered by competition—competition he said the federal government lacks in delivering its services to Americans. He said the government's lack of competition and bureaucracy was hurting the United States in keeping jobs that are moving to other countries."

Who wants to be the first person to tell Mitt Romney that touch screens were developed from government funding of projects by engineers at the University of Kentucky and the University of Illinois and the University of Delaware, and that's just in the U.S.? Yep, if it wasn't for those innovations and innovators, backed by government entities like the NSF, Romney would have had to speak to a human being to order his meatball hoagie with pickles (seriously, that's ****ed up).

So what's the big fuss? I'm amazed by WaWa - and by Sheetz for that matter. Impressed, stupefied, tickled. And you know what else I'm impressed by? Ticket machines remembering what I've bought in the past. That's cool.

I wonder if he used the touch screen to also order one of those "circular, chocolaty things". Oh yeah, he's definitely a "man of the people".

Daily Kos: Mitt Romney: Let's make it easier to commit Medicare fraud than to register to*vote

There was a point to Mitt Romney's amazement at the touch screen ordering system at WaWa that made news yesterday. It was caught by Steve M. at No More Mister Nice Blog in this longer clip. What Romney was really saying was that it should be as easy for a Medicare or Medicaid provider to change addresses as it is to order a sandwich.

Andrea Mitchel and MSNBC doctored the speech to create the gaffe. That is what happens when you get your "news" from MSNBC you have no clue to the real facts. Gee didn't NBC doctor the Zimmerman 911 call as well.

Here is New York Magazine article pointing it out. Mitchel later admitted on air they doctored the speech.

Selective editing by left wing news network MSNBC to make the object of their disdain (in this case Mitt Romney) look bad. This is about the third time this year they've been caught at this. And yet it goes largely unchallenged. I guess this is what we have to look forward to in the campaign. Sheesh.

I'm not sure I get Andrea Mitchell's value as a reporter, either. She has a long history of issues. In the 2004 election, she often made statements just adopting uncritically the GOP line on Kerry, saying Bush was "pragmatic" when he changed his mind and Kerry was a "flip flopper." At that time, it was presumed she was favoring the party of her husband, Alan Greenspan.

This being a "left wing" issue is another matter. Fox news just ran an edited version of the President talking about the executive order on enforcement and the Dream Act which resulted in an utter lie. Partisans and poor journalists have discovered the power of editing.

Oh paleeze, FauxNews is the king of this stuff. Romney is clueless about working Americans and will throw money at the rich if elected and the brain dead republican middle class eat that crap.

GeneV shows us the edited clip that Fox News ran that you claim is a lie. Show us one clip Fox News has ran that even comes close to this level of fraud. There is always a never ending claim that Fox News lies in their reporting. Show one incident where Fox News is making stuff up like MSNBC routinely does like this recent piece by Lawrence O'Donnell where he mocks Anne Romney for having MS.

But then again the Fraud-in-Chief Obama has made his carrier on lying and distorting his own life like in his book Dreams of My Father which is filled with fabrications.

You can't be serious GeneV. Jon Stewart and the Daily Show is your source. Stewart is worse than MSNBC. Only the legends of Useful Idiots watch Stewart. That clip doesn't show Fox News editing what the President said. What Stewart does show is that the President is willing to not up hold the laws on the books which is exactly what the oath the President took and his Justice department is supposed to be doing. Stewart actually shows the President contradicting himself in that September 2011 clip. He first says he has to uphold the laws on the books then says he can get around the laws on the books by just not enforcing them.

Where is what Hannity did even come any where close to what MSNBC did. Mitchell's show she is acting as though she is a journalist. Hannity is not a journalist but an opinion show.

Any person not rattling off talking points would see that what Hannity did is worse, and, unless you are saying that Jon Stewart misedited the video, just expressing your dislike for him is not very useful. Hannity said that President Obama had stated that a president could not do what President Obama just did on immigration policy--while leaving off the part of the previous interview where the President said he could do exactly what he just did. That statement by Hannity with the video is a lie.

On the other hand, Mitchell's edit of Romney makes him look amazed at WaWa. The unedited version makes him look amazed at WaWa. There are some errors on Mitchell's part, but the video edit is the least of them. Andrea Mitchell resists regret on Wawa - Erik Wemple - The Washington Post

GeneV you are the king of talking points. What the President has done with immigration is exactly what he claimed he could not do unilaterally in that September 2011 clip. What Stewart showed was that the President claimed what he could do was just not enforce the laws. What the President did recently was go totally around the laws by issuing an executive order making his own law by fiat.

While we are on immigration can any one say Fast & Furious. It is rather ironic that the President is pandering to the Hispanic vote all the while under his direction the ATF allowed thousands of assault weapons to be sold illegally with the express intent that those guns would be used in crimes in Mexico. And how they have. The short is hundreds of Mexicans have been murdered by Fast & Furious. Those numbers in reality are more likely in the thousands. The streets of city's in the United States where made even more unsafe due to Fast & Furious as the guns were sold in the United States. Take a look a Chicago. All the Presidents community agitating in that city has produced the highest murder rate in the nation.
