I think it is a courtesy light. It could be a later addition.

And what is the wooden looking stick/dowel against the outer edge used for? Tapping the mud and leaves off your brogues after a light stroll in the woods?
I've been puzzled by that too. What are the wiggles for, I wonder? I really like the screwdriver at centre left.

Terrific series of pics, my friend. I enjoyed 'em all. BMWs used to have a tool kit in the trunk (boot?) lid, but no more.

Thanks, Jer. I've been thinking for some time that images from the K1 need less processing than those from my K5.

Boot or trunk, I understand both. I'm almost bi-lingual in English and American

Regards,
Richard.

Some more red from the Jaguar Drivers Club

I couldn't avoid chopping off the nose of the first E-Type. They parked it next to a tree.

Ah, the E-type, still so lovely after all these years!

Red Jags - what could be better?

The sensuous curves of the E-Type (XKE to hicks like me) have captivated me since I was in high school - when it and me were new .

Like others, I was impressed with the C2 Corvette and Shelby Cobra, but the XKE was revered by my crowd as a true exotic.

(Pretty Jags. I'd still favor that putty-tan color or white, myself. )

Any of those new F-types turn up? (I think I could get along with one of those with the (somehow) great-sounding V6 and traditional stick. )

American, English, and Canadian.

Eh?

British racing green?

I would rather have the red myself though.

I really like red sports cars.

I like it so much I painted my race car and my pickup the same color.

I've got the first two down pat, but Canadian? It's just beyond my grasp!

I used to understand Canajun, eh? when I worked in Detroit, but I could never speak it.

I am getting pretty good at Strine.

Richard.

I'm with you 100% there, Jer. The manager (son of the owner) of one of my local butcher's shops in Melbourne was a devotee of American muscle cars. I used to see his C2 coupe about once a week. Nice looking car. I really liked the C3 too. The C4 was just another car. Uninspired. C5? Very nice. C6? C7? Who cares about good looking? Let's make it look brutal.

Shelby Cobra was one of my favourites. It not ugly, but I think that its beauty lies in the knowledge of its capabilities.

There have been lots of beautiful looking cars over the years, but the E-Type just looks special to me. I'm reminded of a documentary about the Air Transport Auxiliary in WWII. They flew everything as ferry pilots, except carrier landings, including 4-engine heavy bombers. Many of them were women. If you haven't seen the documentary, I can highly recommend it. At one point, two old ladies are talking about their favourite planes. They agree on the Spitfire because they found it to be a woman's plane. You didn't need brute force. It behaved well. I think of the E-Type like that.

Hi, RML.

There are some F-Types to come. And a "Shaguar".

Richard.

RIP Vic Edelbrock. The man enhanced the automotive and racing community in ways that cannot be measured easily. A legend in his own time.

At Seattle International Raceway (now Pacific Raceways) at the SOVREN meet some years back.

Here are three shots of an MGA I photographed last week at a British car gathering at Lime Rock Park in Connecticut.

I always liked the 'A'...very curvaceous, had that Jaguar XK 120 look to it, which is one of my favourite cars, although I have a bunch of favourite cars.

Particularly like photo # 2.

It would be a treat to take that MGA for a run, down a long and winding road (apologies to the Beatles) on a nice summer's day.

Hey, thanks, Les. I'm a big fan of the MGA's styling, as well. Connecticut certainly has a plethora of long, winding and meticulously maintained roads that I'd love to tackle in my 911.
