What a wild blown V8 with three exhaust pipes (?) ... what kind of dual carbs are those? TFS, J

Back in the 1960's my brother used to race his future mother-in-law's Valiant
(yes, it had the push-button automatic) at NY National Speedway on Long Island.
I'm not sure if she knew about it. But our basement (finished!) was full of trophies.

Those were the days. Anybody could take their dad's family sedan up the
local drag strip and have some fun. Now cars are just a rich man's hobby.

Caught this beauty in the rain today. I think this may be my favourite trim of the 997 series.

Lots of aluminum. Twin mags or distributors and dual plugs. Carbon fiber covers.

Nice paint!

I took a few snapshots this afternoon. Nothing fancy, just cars that caught my eye. I missed an SL500, a C63 AMG and a Bentley Continental - too slow or roadside stuff was in the way.

A hot rod

A Renault Megane - I'm starting to think they might be interesting. They look a lot better from the front

An early Holden. I think it's an EJ, which would make it 1962-63. The sun visor over the windscreen was very popular until (I'm guessing) around the late 1970s.

Nice shots Richard. This strikes me odd to see a righthanded hot rod and the new Meganes are nice, but nothing special to me here in France. The Holden is quite cool with its sun visor ... what a throw-back option. TFS, J

You can still take your family sedan to the drag strips in this area and run on test & Tune nights.

Reminds me my Dad raced a '64 Valiant slant six, three speed stick at Capital Raceway, Maryland - 1964-1966 timeframe. He and some buddies built custom headers, and he added a Hurst shifter and some cheater slicks. Then he painted 'Swingin Six' on the side . Back then they had the letter classes. He raced M stock (M/S) and held the track record at the time - 17 seconds flat and 80 mph. Not a burner by any means. But he beat everyone in his class almost every week. I do recall a snapshot of him smoking a Vette out of the hole. I'm always a bit bummed now because I misplaced those photos years ago.

Would have loved to see that 'Vette guy's face ... too bad for the loss of your images, J

Richard.

That's cute. I do kind of like the shooting-brake layout (Not sure I'd ever dare own a French car, but maybe they've gotten better since they pretty much vacated the US.

There's actually a lot of interesting-looking *new* cars out there this season, after a period of me being kind of bored with most of them.
